Mother-daughter relationship

Hi guys,
I am new to this blog and was adopted in by Jennifer! Thanks so much for letting me join you. I am posting pictures of a mother-daughter relationship that I photographed recently. The little girl is three and was SO fun to photograph....I just let them play and tickle...they both loved it! I have many images of them looking in the camera....but the ones that really pull on my heartstrings are the ones where they are just totally into each other and loving on each other. It's what motherhood is all about!

Photography stats:
All of these were shot with a Canon 20D and a 50 fixed 1.8 lens. Most of the images were shot at 100-200 ISO at f2.8.
I edited the pictures in iphoto on my mac. All I did was tweek the contrast, sharpen and adjust the color so it pops a little. The pictures were great coming out of the camera BUT they were a little flat. I have settings put onto my camera so that my pictures come out a little punchier! That's how I like it! Let me know if you have any questions!

Sarah,
these are so amazing! The first thing I noticed was the lighting and how the colors screamed out to be noticed. I would love to teach my camera that trick.
Each of these pictures are so sweet and so good because they are NOT looking at the camera. I would expect to have found these in Family Fun magazine. I love how you shot on an angle- even cutting most of the mother off still had a profound effect on the story of this 'relationship'.
very well done.

WELCOME to the club!

Sarah,
Welcome, welcome, it's great to have you on board!
I love your photographs. I have to agree that there is a difference in pictures when they are posed and when the subjects are free to show their personalities. I love the second picture and how you cropped in close on the mothers face just enough to still see the joy in her eyes that her daughter brings to her.
I love the colors and the angle you used on the camera. Beautifully done!

Sarah,

Your pictures are INCREDIBLE! I would also love to learn the trick you do to your camera to make your pictures punchier becuase they do stand out and look as though they came straight out of a magazine.

Please teach us some tricks :)

hey guys....thanks for all the comments...I really appreciate it! I have a canon and if you put your camera on manual (M) then you go to your menu and scroll down to parameters and click on that you will find a bunch of settings. i have changed my contrast, sharpness, saturation, and color tone to my liking. I go over this in detail in my photography classes. if you have a nikon i think it is called vivid or something like that where you can change all of your sharpness and what not. This way when you shoot it automatically edits your pictures a little bit for you. It's a lot of fun. Another trick i do is i overexpose most of my pictures...this picks up a lot more color.
